Locally Owned Gypsy Vodka Rolls Out Debut Spirit
BINGHAM FARMS, MI – July 15, 2015 – Gypsy Vodka, a spirit company local to southeast Michigan, ships its first batch of ultra-premium vodka to Oakland County stores and restaurants this week. The debut marks two years of collaboration among several Michigan entrepreneurs and artisans in bringing Metro Detroit vodka-lovers a new, adventurous spirit crafted for the free and young-at-heart.
“We wanted to create an ultra-premium vodka that appealed to young adults like us,” says Michael Kazanowski, the CEO of Gypsy Vodka who founded the company with his twin brother, Adam and lifelong friend, Griffin Pitcher. “Our journey to this moment has been a wild ride—from Detroit to northern Michigan, the Rocky Mountains and beyond. When you drink Gypsy Vodka, you taste what our hopes and passions and the help of dozens of friends and family members have made possible.” The Kazanowski brothers are graduates of Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills and Michigan State University. “We learned quickly after college that working a nine-to-five wasn’t for us,” Kazanowski says. “So we headed west in search of our dream. Our concept for Gypsy was born from our love of life, adventure, and all the free-faring people we’ve met on the road. Our mission is to deliver a vodka for those who dare to take a chance. That’s what Gypsy means to us.”
Gypsy Vodka is six times distilled from the finest American corn and uses water purified through reverse osmosis. The eighty-proof, traditionally flavored spirit is naturally gluten free and comes in a sleek, 750 mL bottle from a northern Michigan glassblower and features colorful design work from a Detroit-based artist. Though Gypsy Vodka has a look and taste of a top-shelf product, Gypsy is committed to producing first-rate vodka at a non-premium cost.
Distributing through Great Lakes Wine & Spirits headquartered in Highland Park, bottles from Gypsy Vodka’s inaugural shipment can be found in select stores in and around Oakland County. Sales are currently limited to Michigan vendors, but the Kazanowski brothers are eager to grow their venture into markets across the Midwest. “Our motto at Gypsy is ‘Let Love Conquer,’” says Kazanowski. “We love our jobs. We love our friends and family, and we know you’re going to love our vodka.”
